Organisational FAQ’s

How many people exhibit?
Last year we had over 70 different artists and over 100 works.

How many pieces can I enter?
As many as you want as long as they are under a meter square - £6 per work

What type of work are you looking for?
We’re not looking for any particular style, genre or medium. There are no selectors, no criteria and no theme. You can show anything that we can accommodate. Offensive or illegal works of art may be turned away.

Are their any prizes?
No. There are however recommendations and recorgnition awards from the Curator, and The Worcester Standard.

How long is it on for?
2nd- 23rd August 2008

When do I collect my work?
Saturday 23rd pm 30th 31st August 12th – 4th
Please, it is important that you organize the collection of your work on these dates.

Can I sell my work, do I have to sell the work?
Yes you can sell works at no commission, if however you would like to make a further donation to the gallery that would be welcomed. No you don’t have to sell work and we will label these works N.F.S.

Is my work insured?
No, by entering this show you are responsible for the insurance of your work. We are not able to insure any works and we are not responsible for theft, loss, fire or any damage during the exhibition after or before the exhibition or whilst the work is in transit.

Art FAQ’s

Is there going to be a load of modern stuff like Emin’s bed, stuff that is difficult to understand and anyone could do?
Hopefully, yes, in fact you don’t even have to be an artist.

Is there going to be a load of traditional stuff like pictures of the Cathedral and swans, stuff that values skill over content?
Hopefully, yes, in fact you don’t even have to have exhibited your work before.

Is there going to be any craft or applied arts?
Hopefully, yes. Remember there’s no commission

Is there going to be abstract painting?
Hopefully, yes. Remember there’s no commission

Is there going to be any performance, light or sound art?
I hope so, we will try to organise three evening events during the festival where someone can engage with the public.

WHY?

There are many aims of this show:

Create a network of artists within Worcestershire and beyond.

Encourage people into the space
Raise much needed funding to support the not-for-profit artist space

To allow artists to find a new audience for their work

To build confidence in local artists and the community

To challenge the objectives of ‘Open’ exhibitions.

Hello all,
Once again the Pitt Studio will be taking a snapshot of artistic practice in Worcestershire with the 2nd Worcester Open Exhibition. I would like to invite all artists, especially those from Worcestershire and bordering counties to participate in this truly 'open' Open Exhibition. Well done to all the contributing artists, with over 400 visitors, this the first annual summer show has been a success. We have had accolades and praise with each and every exhibit being commented on favorably. A truly high standard of entries.

And here it is the winners of the Public Vote - Dan Roach and Glen Badham - Although Dan achieved over 93 votes to Glenn's 91 we would like to declare this contest a draw.

The Artist artist award goes to - Sarah Goudie - for her epic pencil endeavors.

With the end of the show approaching I would like everyone to encourage someone to make one last visit to see the works, take photos and enjoy the spectacle. We have had a tremendous response from the public and again I'd like to thank you all for this the 1st Worcester Open.
